Autonomous pentesting and Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) answer two different questions. Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) asks: "Do my security controls block and detect known threats?" It tests your defenses. Autonomous pentesting asks: "What can an attacker actually compromise?" It tests the attacker's path. BAS runs independent, atomic attack actions against your controls. Autonomous pentesting chains real exploitation into multi-stage attack paths toward critical assets. Both use real techniques; they are built for opposite purposes.
